As part of a series of attractiveness measures targeted at universities and railway undertakings, the UIC is launching its first global Rail Hackathon. The European region Hackathon is organised by the Mechanical Engineering Department of the University of Malaga within the frame of the ASTONRAIL Erasmus+ Project.
Thematic: How can railways be resilient in the face of pandemics?
This Hackathon offers participants and rail enthusiasts the opportunity to imagine the future and develop solutions for railway operators to better face pandemic situations. The hackathon will in-clude various themes and activities, such as: training, customer service on board trains and in sta-tions, maintenance workshops, management of suspicious cases, communication and information, etc.
A European regional “competition” will be held in 2021 (it will be jointly organised with the ASTON-Rail project team and outreach activities in Ziline, Slovakia), with a final contest at international level in May 2022, in the frame of the World Congress about Rail Training, Talent and Development (WCRT) in Moscow.
